The African Society of International Law held its 12th annual conference in Addis Ababa at the Africa Union Hall on October 27 and 28, 2023 on the topic of ‘‘African and the Governance of Global Commons.’’ At the conference the Honourable State Minister of Justice for Institutional Building and Reform Dr. Ermias Yemanebirhan made an opening speech. Dr. Ermias Yemanebirhan stated that global commons: mainly the high sea, atmosphere, Polar Regions and space are considered as common heritages of mankind. He further stated that urgent cooperation and coordination is needed for sustainable protection, preservation and management including accessibility and lawful utilization of these resources. Many research papers have been presented by renowned international law scholars and discussed at the conference. International law professionals drawn from Ethiopia and different countries participated in the conference.
The conference concluded with a remark by the President of the Society Professor Makana Moïse Mbengue who thanked all those who contributed to the success of the annual conference.
