WHEREAS, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea was adopted at Montego Bay, Jamaica, on 10 December 1982 and came into force on 16 November 1994;
WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified the said Convention at its session held on the 17th day of May, 2012;
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with sub-article (1) and (12) of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
