WHEREAS, it is necessary to implement the Charter adopted by the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments of the OAU at its twenty-sixth ordinary session held in July 1990;
WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the Charter that the Charter shall come into force 30 days after the reception by the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity of the instruments of ratification or adherence of 15 (fifteen) member states of the Organization of African Unity;
WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said Charter at its session held on the 4th day of July, 2002;
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55(1) and (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
