WHEREAS, the Assembly of Heads of States of the African Union has adopted the African Road Safety Charter in its Ordinary Session on the 31st day of January, 2016;

WHEREAS, the Charter sets standards and guidelines at National and Continental levels in stipulating road safety provisions with a view to the eminent benefit of member States from road safety;

WHEREAS, the ratification of this Charter by Ethiopia would not only benefit its people’s safety and National Economy but it also adds a lot to our country’s image so that it can become competitive on the world stage;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified the said Charter at its 5th special session held on the 7th day of July, 2021;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 Sub-Article (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is proclaimed as follows.
