WHEREAS, an Agreement, on the establishment of African Union, was signed by Ethiopia and other members of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), in Lome, Togo, on the 11th day of July, 2000;

WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the Agreement that the Agreement shall enter into force thirty days after the deposit of the instruments of ratification by two-thirds of the member States of the OAU;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said Agreement at its session held on the 8thday of March, 2001;

NOW, lHEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 Sub-Articles (1) and (12) of the Constitution, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
