WHEREAS, the Government of the United States of America has enacted the African Growth and Opportunity Act on 18 May, 2000;
WHEREAS, this Act enables selected Sub-Saharan African countries to export their products to the United States duty and quota-free; and Ethiopia is one of the Sub-Saharan countries eligible to benefit from this Act;
WHEREAS, on the basis of the said Act, the Ethiopian Government has agreed to export textile and apparel products duty and quota-free to the United States of America; and it has become necessary to enact a law for manufacturers and exporters to operate in compliance with the agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
