WHEREAS, it is necessary to ratify the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property adopted on March 20, 1883 to protect industrial property by establishing a union between member countries;

WHEREAS, the Convention provides a foundation for the development of international standards for intellectual property rights;

WHEREAS, the Convention supports attraction of investment and strengthens technology transfer by enabling owners of inventions of member countries to efficiently register their rights in our country and get protection;

WHEREAS, the Convention helps patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, service marks, trade names, indications of source or appellations of origin found in Ethiopia to have international protection and to prevent unfair competition;

WHEREAS, the House of Peopels’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said Convention at its 4th Ordinary Session held on the 5th day of November 2024;

NOW, therefore, in accordance with Sub-Articles (1) and (12) of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows.
