Haweni Taddese has been leading the Department Federal Laws Implementation Monitoring Directorate since 2023. She plays a crucial role in ensuring effective and consistent enforcement of federal laws across all government institutions in Ethiopia. She oversees the development and implementation of robust monitoring mechanisms, conducts legal audits, monitors federal agencies to identify and address compliance gaps and coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure corrective actions are taken. Furthermore, she actively strengthens the rule of law and promotes good governance through training programs, national events, and advocacy efforts. Haweni is recognized for successfully coordinating with partners and stakeholders to support the Ministry’s activities, significantly contributing to enhanced legal compliance and improved access to justice for citizens.
Prior to her current role, Haweni served in various capacities focusing on and demonstrated success in advising higher leadership, prosecuting complex crimes and contributing to national legal and policy reforms. With over 10 years of experience in the legal field, she remains committed to advancing justice good governance and the rule of law in Ethiopia through monitoring effective implementation of laws and offices of executive federal government. Her career consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to justice and the rule of law in Ethiopia.
