Firdie Cheru has been serving as head of the Directorate for the Protection of Criminal Witnesses and whistleblowers since 2024.
Prior to his current leadership role, Firdie served as Director of witnesses and whistleblowers protection directorate, a General Director in the Economic Crimes Directorate, where he worked to combat crimes affecting the country’s economy, particularly in the areas of tax and customs systems, ensuring perpetrators were held accountable. Additionally, he held leadership roles in regional judiciary offices, legal research institutes, and as a bureau head and attorney general in the Regional Justice Bureau. His efforts have been instrumental in upholding the rule of law and improving the justice system in the region.
With over 23 years of professional experience in law, Firdie combines his expertise and leadership skills to implement and ensure the proper functioning complaint handling. He remains committed to upholding the right to be heard of all complaints
