WHEREAS, the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals was adopted in Bonn, Germany, on 23 June 1979 and came in to force on 1 November 1983;

WHEREAS, the said convention is found to have paramount importance in conserving the migratory species of wild animals through cooperation of member states;

WHEREAS, it is vital for Ethiopian wildlife conservation effort to be a member of this convention;

WHEREAS, Article XVII of the Convention provides that after the 22 June of 1980 this Convention shall be open for accession by all non-signatory States;

WHEREAS, the House of peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified the said Agreement at its session held on the 4th day of June, 2009;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 sub-article (1) and (12) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
