WHEREAS, at the conference of States Parties held on 12 December 1995, Ethiopia adopted the amendment to Article 43 paragraph (2) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which it had earlier ratified;

WHEREAS, the Amendment approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 21 December 1995, enters into force subject to acceptance by a two-thirds majority of States Parties, pursuant to Article 50 paragraph (2) of the Convention;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said amendment at its session held on the 24th day of February, 1998;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 55 sub-Articles (1) and (12) of the Constitution, it is hereby proclaimed as follows
