WHEREAS, it is necessary to ratify the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted on June 27, 1989, to protect trade and service marks at the international level;

WHEREAS, the Protocol provides appropriate guarantees for the protection of trademarks to member countries and helps prevent the entry of substandard products and technologies into our country;

WHEREAS, becoming a member of the Protocol supports the protection of trade marks of our handicraft products and helps producers and service providers obtain appropriate protection;

WHEREAS, registering trade and service marks internationally in an efficient, timely, and cost-saving manner has become necessary;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia ratified the said Agreement at its 4th Ordinary Session held on the 5th day of November 2024;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Sub-Articles (1) and (12) of Article 55 of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
